Reliable during processing
Barrier films used for lamination can suffer stress during the
production process. Even if stretched during processing, the
special coatings on KURARISTER™ maintain their barrier
The types of coatings common in other barrier films are more
easily damaged, which can result in the loss of barrier properties
in the final package. KURARISTER™ also has excellent scratch
resistance, reducing the possible effects of abrasion that can
occur during processing and handling. Since KURARISTER™ is coated
on both sides instead of just one its functional barrier properties
are more secure.
Reliable before and after retort
Moisture has little effect on the barrier properties of
KURARISTER™, which remain superior to those of standard transparent
metallised films. This difference widens after retort treatment
since, unlike some metallised films, KURARISTER™ maintains
its original barrier properties.
Reliable during different kinds of retort treatment
Some coated films are more sensitive to certain kinds of retort
treatment, resulting in a loss of barrier properties. KURARISTER™
gives much more flexibility and choice when choosing retort
treatment, and retains its barrier and optical properties during
hot water, spray and even steam retort processes.
Since KURARISTER™has its special coating on both sides, curling
is not a concern making the film easy to handle. Slip properties
are similar to those of PET film. Unlike some oxide coated films,
the barrier coating layers on KURARISTER™
will not lose their properties if flexed, either during processing
or during transport and handling of the final package.
Both solvent-based and water-based inks can be used for printing
or coating directly onto KURARISTER™.
No corona or other special surface treatment is required.
